A 27-year-old man from Colwyn Bay has been sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment for assault after throwing pint glasses at a pub. The incident occurred on March 1, 2025, at The Mountain View pub, which is run by Michael and Annie Rowlands. Benjamin Stockton, of Gwelfryn, had been asked to leave the premises after being rude and threatening women. He refused to give back two glasses of beer that had just been poured for him and left carrying them. Stockton then threw one glass each at Mr. and Mrs. Rowlands, causing them to sustain cuts. Following this confrontation, Stockton walked home, but others followed him. He was then heard to shout: 'Come on then, who wants a go?' with a knife in his hand. Police attended and arrested Stockton, who was taken to custody and then to hospital, where he was abusive to a nurse and had to have leg restraints used on him. Cannabis and a pair of scissors were recovered from him. While in hospital, Stockton said: 'Autism is brilliant. I get away with everything.' He later told police he could not remember the incident and said he used cannabis heavily and has autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. In a statement, Mrs. Rowlands said she was left feeling 'very vulnerable and scared.' Mr. Rowlands added that he has 'become nocturnal' since this incident and said the pub 'lost customers as a result of Benjamin's behavior.'
