Sol Forde's first-half header delivered Colwyn Bay their first away win of the season with a 1-0 victory at Flint Town United on Saturday. The result lifts the Seagulls into fifth place in the Cymru Premier table, now on 25 points from 13 games.
Forde struck the decisive goal in the 26th minute, rising to meet Josh Williams's cross from a short corner routine taken by captain Sam Hart. It was the forward's third goal of the season and proved enough to separate the sides. Bay dominated the opening period, with Lewis Sirrell hitting the crossbar from a long throw and Callum Bratley forcing a save from Flint keeper Jack Flint before the break.
Michael Wilde's side managed the game well after the interval, absorbing pressure without goalkeeper Mark Halstead being seriously tested. The match was a physical affair, with Colwyn Bay receiving five yellow cards, including an early booking for Adam Davies. Flint Town United had four players cautioned.
Wilde made two double substitutions in the second half, introducing Louis Robles and Ethan Roberts on 76 minutes. Robles marked the occasion by making his 200th appearance in the Cymru Premier. Jack Kenny entered the fray late on as Bay saw out the closing stages.
"It's a massive three points for us away from home," said goalscorer Sol Forde. Substitute Louis Robles added, "Proud to make my 200th appearance and help the team get the win."
The win continues a strong run of form for Colwyn Bay, who have now won four of their last five league matches. You can review the team's recent results and upcoming schedule on our fixtures page. Their next assignment is a Welsh Cup tie away to Buckley Town this Saturday, with kick-off at 2pm local time.
The victory handed Flint Town United manager Danny Holmes his first defeat in charge. Holmes told S4C's Sgorio, "I just think our lads didn't turn up today." The result, which leaves Colwyn Bay fifth with 25 points, ended Holmes's run of two consecutive wins. It was Bay's fourth win in five league matches, a run that includes a 5-2 victory over Barry Town.
