Colwyn Bay suffered a disappointing defeat on the road as they fell to a 3-0 loss against Caernarfon Town in their latest league outing. The match took place at The Oval, with an enthusiastic crowd of 1,352 witnessing the home side's dominant performance. The Cofis showcased their attacking prowess throughout the encounter, with Dan Gosset, Zack Clarke, and Adrian Cieslewicz all finding the back of the net.
Colwyn Bay had a chance to take an early lead but squandered their opportunity when Louis Robles' header struck the post from Matty Hill's long throw. Nathan Peate, well positioned for the rebound, failed to convert, shooting wide instead.
Following this early scare, Caernarfon took control of the match. Gosset displayed exceptional skill, weaving through the Bay defence to score the opener in the 27th minute. Colwyn Bay goalkeeper Mark Halstead was called into action several times, making key saves to deny Osian Evans from extending the lead before half-time.
The second half began with a promising effort from Jordan Davies, but his shot was well saved by Connor Roberts in the Caernarfon goal. A penalty shout from the Bay was dismissed by VAR, leaving them frustrated. Caernarfon continued to assert their dominance and doubled their advantage in the 64th minute when Clarke converted a sharp chance, marking his third goal of the season.
The home side sealed their victory with a third goal just nine minutes later, courtesy of Cieslewicz. This came after Ryan Astles lost possession deep in his own half, allowing Caernarfon to capitalise. Gosset nearly added a fourth, but his curling effort struck the post. In a late attempt to salvage some pride, Jordan Davies lifted a free kick over the bar, leaving the Bay without a goal to show for their efforts.
Colwyn Bay currently sits 11th in the league, with 4 points from 3 games, and are 5 points behind leaders Llandudno. Their next fixture is against Cambrian & Clydach at home on October 30th.
