Brian Madden has stepped down as chairman of Colwyn Bay Football Club and resigned from its board of directors. He will continue to support the club as operations manager until October 31, 2025.
Madden was appointed chairman in 2024. His departure comes as the club enjoys a strong run of form on the pitch, sitting sixth in the Cymru Premier with 19 points from 10 games. They are on a three-match winning streak, most recently beating Barry Town 5-2.
"After a great deal of consideration, I have made the difficult decision to step down as Chairman of Colwyn Bay Football Club and resign from my position as a Director," Madden said. He added a message for supporters: "Once a Seagull, always a Seagull."
Stadium naming rights search
Colwyn Bay is actively seeking new commercial partners for the naming rights to its home ground. The stadium, known as Llanelian Road, was renamed The Blue Turtle Arena in 2025 following a three-year partnership with Blue Turtle Group. That company collapsed earlier this year, prompting the search for a new sponsor.
Majority ownership of the club transferred to Jody and Carly Johnson in June 2025, when they bought out the shares of previous owners Dave and Brian Titchiner. Mrs Johnson serves as the club's vice chairperson.
With Madden's operational support secured for another year, the focus remains on the pitch. The team's recent results, including a 5-0 away win at Holywell, show a potent attack that has scored 20 league goals this season.
